Laura Mulvey's ideas on representation

Laura Mulvey's theory was 'In a world ordered by sexual imbalance, pleasure in looking has been split between active/male and passive/female. The determining male gaze projects its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly.'

In all of the music videos we now are able to view an artists image is seemingly planned with extreme accuracy  clothes, hairstyle and body language are just a few. The fact everything is planned to the very last detail makes it very apparent that everything in music videos is very much intended to be there. Music videos constantly support Laura's theory a theory which in other words means there is a strong inequality in the world between the sexes and that men are lookers and women are looked at and are supposed to represent the image men desire. This is very clear in the media world where women are often looked at as objects.
