Research for music video: Vernail's Theory

Carol Vernalis compared camerawork and editing in music videos and films, she discovered that a lot more edits occur in music videos than im films. Here are the 5 most common elements she found:
  • Base track repetition to give video structure
  • The camera moves with the video
  • Transitions used in edits to get audiences attention
  • To make a video more interesting to break the continuity rule in editing
  • Jump cuts occur very often
As you can see in this video, it proves Vernails theory right, because there is alot of rhythm editing and the camera moves with the music and alot of potns in the song. Also there are a great number of edits in this song to get the audiences attention and you would never see this much edits in something like a TV Drama.
