"In a world ordered by sexual imbalance, pleasure in looking has been split between ative/male and passive/female. The determining male gaze projects its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly".
Laura Mulvey's theory/idealogy states that men are usually the 'lookers' and women are the ones that are looked at and men usually look at women and develop their own fantasies, usually in music videos these fantasies come true.
However in this music video, although shows women to be representing the image men desire, shows that even though men develop fantasies, they dont always come true.
Although Cee Lo Green has a lack of sucess with the women he loves, theres a turn around at the end where he is seen as rich and powerful and a man his love possibly desires and she is seen as a women he doesnt desire anymore.
Women are usually shown as objets through the male gaze in music videos, alot of this can be shown through the 'dismemberment' - where women are shown as just groups of flesh, legs etc.
