Music industry in 2012

Piracy has gone a long way to helping the rapid decline in sales of music, since the emergence of free pirated music less and less people are willing to pay for singles or albums. This has forced the music industry to venture out and look for other ways of making money from their music, the music industry has now seen a dramatic change from sales of music to having to sell other items to make up for the rapid decline in sales. An example of this is now special Cd releases which may cost a lot more than the original but come with free goods only available with the Cd such as a t-shirt or poster. Another example is where an artist allowed down loaders of their album to get them for however much they felt it was worth. All the piracy which is now such a common occurrence means that the music industry is going to have to change or risk becoming a non-profit business.
